Rain

by Cheryl Birch

rainy-wallpaper7

A smell; a fragrance in the air
A sense, something on its way
A feeling in my bones
A distant sound, barely heard

Pitter pat, pitter pat
A clink, a clang
Tap, tap, tap
Pitter pat, pitter pat

Tires on wet pavement
Rushing winds
Drumming on roof tops
Grass glistening green

Everything soaked and shiny
Rivulets wash window panes
Umbrellas bounce and twirl
Puddles wet many feet

Parched earth drinks deeply
Trees clap thank you
Flowers dance with every drop
All nature sighs in relief

Rain, chasing away the drought
Such a lovely gift
Liquid love from God
Refreshment out of heaven
