Even when Winter really hasn’t been that bad
I long for the warmth brought by each sunny day
I’ll never tire of Summer with its hours of sunlight
Riding down roads without needing a word to say.
The solitude found in the chatter of my loud pipes
No, I didn’t eat Mexican, I meant on the motorcycle
Ear buds in with a variety of music filling my mind
No problems to solve nor any conversations to stifle.
There is a lot to be said for hours on the open road
A winding country road leading to a quaint eatery
Maybe a few tables on an open screened in porch
A plate of fish, fries and iced tea consumed eagerly.
I am ready for the sun to tan where the t-shirt ends
Wind in my hair, sunglasses on, no bugs in my teeth
No worries if it will rain or where the road may lead
Shirt, jeans and boots with nothing else underneath.
Just smile into the sun…
