Winter

by kim blades, writer

In the south

winter is soft and mellow

winds are cool and leaves turn yellowthe sun shines warm

carefully ripening the corn.

In the north

winter is wrathful and bleak

icy winds through leafless forests shriek

the sky is dull and grey

freezing fog blights the day.

Whether subtle or dire

winter’s weather is real

cool breathing cashmere or ice ribbed steel

calming and comforting

or unchain’d and smiting –

Winter is here!

  3. This was great the way you described the attributes of Winter. Almost like all the different personalities in “Cybil” Well done!
