Cat Travesty

by Colly

My cat has an affinity for shredding paper…

That and resting atop my computer…

As letters, symbols, numbers stream across my URL bar…

And my scroll bar hides from view.

The window – screen freezes in place;

flips sideways rather than upright!

Repetitively she demands to have her way…

Protesting rather than trying to behave…

To allow her owner to have screen time;

this seemingly was not on her mind…

She’d rather squat – transverse my efforts.

Giving in to her twisted pleasure.

This evening she wasn’t of sound mind…

She showed no composure she couldn’t unwind.

Up and down the hallways she raced…

Tail all puffed – stanch, upright.

And it’s during these moments I appreciate my woollies…

my cozy footsies that keep my feet from bleeding.

Yes, bleeding as on impulse and a swat she’ll file her nails,

savagely, with my bare flesh.

I can say that with this cat – this kitten, I’ve acquired a lot

of new slippers. My latest pair are from a craft’s fair…

Hand knitted one’s have such flair…

My feet welcome such a treat!

Even though they’re tangerine.

  1. I know whats its like with a cat.

    • I honestly don’t know what the last owner did to her; she was so young when I got her. But I’ve worked hard at earning her trust and taming her feral disposition. I ❤ her very much !!!

  2. May be she was taken away to young from the mother.

    We had a massive black Persian tom cat for years but he loved out at night and brought back gifts of mice and birds 🙂 he got sick and had to be put down.

    • She was about a month and a half old when we first got her. A photo of her at that time is posted on here when I first wrote about her. Pets really do make a home 🙂

  3. Loved your description of your cat and your interactions with it! Dog’s have a master – not so with cats! I recently read a blogger’s hilarious description of her life with her cat and three dogs. Her description is so, so apt and is something that most cat owner’s can identify with. She called it a “NINJA CAT” – LOL!!! Now you know the answer to “why”.
