The last few years have been strangely visited by the passing of so many friends, their parents, their spouses, their children, their best lifelong friends. When you go through such a loss it helps knowing you have friends, family, and God to turn to when the pain is overwhelming and just too much to bear. However, there are many lonely nights where it is just you and God, sharing the burden of loss.
My Heart Hurts
Waking up this morning with life’s plans rolling along.
With children, family, and friends in their places where they belong.
Hearing that my cousin has cancer drove me to my knees in pain.
My friend called to say her granddaughter has a tumor on her brain.
Three couples from church shared cancer is now in their life,
A friend’s husband took his life leaving a family and a wife.
Oh Lord, How can we bear the misery and the pain all around?
When every day new grief arrives with that deep sickening sound.
Children breaking their parents hearts by turning their backs on them
Not caring how it wounds the family and causes so much mayhem.
Wives losing husbands, how will they make their way?
Husbands losing wives, not knowing how to fill their lonely days.
All the brokenness and heartache is what made Jesus weep
It’s much the same today as the ones we love can’t sleep
For thinking of the sadness and loneliness ahead
All the empty days of heartache looming solemnly to dread.
Oh Lord, You are the God of Comfort, you and you alone
Can turn these saddened lives around as only you could have known.
Lives touched by cancer have been touched by your healing hand
Men and women finding love again was in your Majestic plan.
As we wait to hear how your plan works out for those who’ve yet to know
Give them mercy for their journey and enough grace for each days flow.
I lift them up before the throne, and place them at your feet
For when their hearts hurt, MY HEART HURTS with every single beat.
