Festive Food (Christmas Poetry Challenge)

by kim blades, writer

Poetry challenge: Christmas poem.

.

For some there is steaming hot turkey,

aromatic stuffing, golden roast potatoes,

colourful cooked veges and thick savoury gravy –

comfort food to warm girls and fellows

celebrating Christmas in winter.

For those in sunnier, wamer regions,

sensual salads of shellfish, olives and chives,

nestled among raw green leaves, lightly seasoned –

refreshing food to cool sun-bronzed guys

celebrating Christmas in summer.
