November Rain

Back when we spent days

chasing raindrops and ink

seeking warmth in each other’s arms

summer passed in just a blink

playing dive bars, writing our own memoirs

you told a story with just one wink

We lived in the moment

together we were strong

your words, so sincere

perfect harmony in every song

With you, I finally found solid ground

With you, I was somewhere I belonged

Oh, how those bells did chime

a lonely sound in the November rain

If only I’d stopped time

crystal clear visions shatter again, again

When Autumn’s chill came to call

settling in to reap the night

tunes became hollow and I lost my way

Daylight left me cold, all alone after that fight

Didn’t take much to ignite fires that still burn

Should have stayed, loving you with all my might

But the damage was done, some things you can’t take back

magical journeys just a phenomenon

ghosts of yesterday still haunt me as I wait by the station

bags packed in the early morning dawn

I couldn’t stop you, this chance I blew

once battle lines were drawn

Oh how those bells did chime

a lonely sound in the November rain

If only I’d stopped time

crystal clear visions shatter again, again

  1. The painful feelings are nicely expressed. You come up with one line in each of your poems which stands out and is deep.
Here it is “If I’d stopped time”. Nice one.

  2. Beautifully written! Pain delicately expressed fills my heart with the sound of those bells and rain!
