Geocaching

by Jem Croucher

With the temperature feeling more like
early summer in the sun
We went geocaching in the forest
All seven having fun
Following co-ordinates
we found clues along the way
whilst pausing for some photographs
on this fine October day

Some were hidden in the undergrowth
and some beneath the trees
Some we had to dig for
down on hands and knees
We had the forest to ourselves
although we did once meet a deer
who seemed a little flustered
that some humans were quite near

He didn’t hang about too long
disappearing in a flash
Leaving us to finish off
our first fun geocache
Then, riddle solved and codeword found
with laughter in our eyes
We headed back to all enjoy
some chocolates as our prize

  1. The poem is as sweet as the chocolates I can imagine after solving riddles. By the way, I have now learned about geocaching, thanks to it!
