Fear

Fear
ate her body–
swallowed whole

by its teeth and fury;
by the trembling throat

of that steep cave–
all too familiar:

a harrowing system of
pins and needles;

of an ice-cold eye
that scalds hope, but

her foot keeps falling
like moisture on earth–

she is hurtling
towards the sun,

kissing her shadow
goodbye, and as her

lips pour and purr;
her coiled heart
roams.
