Coffee with WritingWingsforYou

by mzanemcclellan

This was composed spontaneously as a comment to a post from my friend Marie from

In the post she asked what one would say if they sat down with her for coffee and the following presented itself to me.

And we have sipped
from the same cup,
you and I.
Tasted the bitter dark,
the light and sweet.
We drank to the dregs,
and sought foretelling
in the emptiness.
Only to realize
we could refill
from a fresh pot,
to our liking.
Naturally flavored,
delicately savored,
as we get acquainted
with one another,
with ourselves.
Through revelations
we could not hear
when first
but resonate
in their
when we hear
“me too.”

    • Thank you, Ashley. I hope it won’t hurt your feelings if I decline. I am having difficulty striking a balance between blogging and its accompanying activities, and getting my writing done.
I do enjoy reading good quotes, but don’t have the time to devote to rooting out choice quotes that have not been posted ad nauseum on Facebook, Pinterest, etc.
So I am hoping to write something quotable instead. ☺
      I hope you understand.

  7. Oh, autocorrect put the k in there for some reason. But not with 3 Ss. Thanks.

  8. I love poems written from experience… great post

    • Thank you, Debbie. I think this was more of a collective unconscious experience because it was so instinctual when written.

  16. Coffee and writing go so well together! I always get a cup when I sit down to write my books or when I make posts onto my blog. Perfect!

    • Thank you so much. I saw a cute commercial today in which children described their parents before they got coffee in the morning. Adorable.

  17. I like when people get together and the conversation flows and lots of, “Me, too’s” occur. Nicely written!
