Friendship Song

by Rhyme In Time

When I awoke is when a knew a dream
Is where I’d heard a song like angels sing.
Each note the voice of distant star did seem,
While all in one accord made heavens ring.

And I, though weak of voice, had part to play,
When handed lute with strings of gossamer;
With brash full chords I roughed out roundelay
As if to mix the pungent with the pure.

While no two instruments were less alike,
Yet step by step we played in harmony,
Like punks with opera singer at the mic–
A friendship sweet in jarring minstrelsy.

Although too soon from dream I had to part,
Your song still resonates within my heart.
