Buttercup yellow

by Jem Croucher

Buttercup yellow
in bright sunshine
Out in their thousands
when the weather is fine
With a throng of wild flowers
in the grass growing tall
This is summer I’m seeing
and I’m loving it all
Reflection of sunshine
high in the sky
Golden yellow beneath
grey skies to decry
Buttercup yellow
a treasure to hold
I’m enriched by their colour
and bathed in pure gold
