Chive

by Jem Croucher

IMGP0223

Flowering chive, a delicate mauve
in contrast with the green
Of all the herbs we try to grow
the prettiest I have seen

It’s really good in scrambled eggs
with seasoning on the side
Or as a garnish to a stir-fry
with mushrooms, lightly fried

But as it is at present
I’m content to let it grow
for it will always be there
as a tasty herb I know
