Tell the story to each generation or we’ll surely regret
Tell the story proudly lest we forget.
Oh say can you see by dawn’s early light
Francis Scott Key praying to see our flag with all his might.
All through the night the bombs burst in the air
British attacking, our men would not despair!
Holding the flag up with bodies of friends
Others standing all night our honor to defend.
Tell the story to each generation or we’ll surely regret.
Tell the story proudly lest we forget.
As dawn broke the next morning our flag proudly waved in the air
While prisoners awaiting to be freed cried, “Is it still there?”
“Yes, It’s still there,” cried Francis Scott Key.
Our men fought valiantly for you and for me,
Paying for freedom they willingly found
The price was their blood flowing freely on the ground.
Tell the story to each generation or we’ll surely regret.
Tell the story proudly, lest we forget.
This has been written the week before Memorial Day, 2016, to remind us all of our precious history of the blood of the lives of our men and women that is freely given each day so that we can live with the freedom that comes at so great a price. Thank you to all the men and women dedicated to defend that history. Please place the names of your family members who deserve to be honored for defending our freedom and the honor of our country. God Bless America!
