Today the springtime yellow
is blossoming with youth
But winter’s icy fingers
Linger on and hide the truth
And I’m reminded of the evening
with the warmth of autumn gold
When xanthophyll brought yellow
to the trees before the cold
Soon it will be summer though
the proper time for yellow
Which I’ll welcome like a long-lost friend
with a very heartfelt ‘hello’
