Amnesia

It slips into a vein
like a needle

into a junkie.
They’ll complain

until their lack
turns euphoric.

Bernie Sanders
has the answer

to believe.
He’ll make us feel

equal somehow,
justified and drugged

on redemption.
For it is the rich

who give us nothing
but misery

with their libraries,
jobs and universities,

their gardens, museums
and hospitals

dedicated to helping
no one apparently.

Socialism
slips into our mouths

and out again
like a conversation

absent of memory
and all recognition.
