(For J. Luna aka “Lovey”)

The jubilant sun is jumping from behind a corner.
The smiling moon is resting in a glass,
With the drunken stars swirling around
Whispering “I love you” in many languages:
“Te amo! Je taime! Ti amo! Eu te amo!
Nakupenda! Mahal kita!”

All of this is taking place in a public parade
To celebrate a gift given by the cosmos.

You and I hold hands as we walk
Among dancing clouds, blushing nebulas,
Happy comets and clapping galaxies.

There’s a whistle but we don’t know
Where it’s coming from, then we see
Venus flash us a flirty, mischievous smile.

You and I smile
Hand in hand
This is our celebration,
Our parade …
As we look into each other’s eyes
And say to one another
I love U …
On this day of love
