As ink lies to paper

by Jem Croucher

My heart on my sleeve
but most times my hand
pouring words onto paper
for posterity and
a memory to capture
one day at a time
recalled in a moment
in verse or a rhyme

These words are my birthright
as present and gift
bequeathed to myself
to raise spirits and lift
For as ink lies to paper
and my heart to my sleeve
these words will remain
should I stay or I leave
