Keepsakes

keepsakes

So many joys
so many tears
time collected
in moments and years

your favorite hat
you never wore
me standing naked
clothes on the floor

the dog, the cat
the goat and the sow
all in their moments
captured somehow

your sister Ruth
your goofy brother
your grandpa Frank
father and mother

all in closets
boxes and drawers
shoved into corners
behind closed doors.

  1. The cover illustration is so appropriate, literally and metaphorically.

  2. Ah, the halcyon days. Closeted in the cupboards of our minds and kept for a rainy day.
