~ My Christmas Wish

by A. L. O'Prunty

~ Christmas Wish
If I could have my Christmas Wish

Served on a candy coated dish

I’d serve it those in need

Forgetting selfishness and greed
There’d be peace throughout the land

Humanity standing hand

In one accord to sing

The blessings united brings
Famine would cease to exist

In my world, My Christmas Wish

The homeless would be content

Sheltered by love well spent
Families to become one union

Forgiveness resulting in reunion

To gather once more

Carrying tradition through each door
Children, our futures glory

Would be raised with a different story

Instead of hate, violence and greed

They’d learn love does supersede
And the elderly throughout the land

Would rise in wisdom to command

Perhaps for their last time

Denouncing atrocities with words sublime
If I could have my Christmas Wish

Served on a candy coated dish

How happy I would be…

As the world rejoiced in unity:
Perhaps it’s just a dream

From a Poets noble thoughts supreme

But dreams can intervene

As history recalls from the thinkers pen.
