Little things

by Jem Croucher

I found a silken thread
in the early morning light
spun there in perfect symmetry
by a spider overnight

I knew it wouldn’t stay there
as delicate its line
So I lingered for a moment
and admired it for a time

Overlooked by most who pass
such a simple little thing
A pity as, for well we know
the pleasure it can bring
