September weaves (four seasons)

by Jem Croucher

September weaves the Summer
into Autumn seamlessly
Replacing days of warming sun
with ones more blustery

But I’m not that disappointed
for there’s much here to admire
The reds and golds of falling leaves
and warm evenings by the fire

The waves down on the shoreline
grow at this time of year
Built up by stronger winds offshore
from far horizons clear

And as the days get colder
and Winter clothes we find
I know Springtime’s not that far away
Happily kept in mind
