From A Distance

by A. L. O'Prunty

I watch, each day she’s growing
Personality overflowing
Heart so full of love, compassion
Her youth is beauty; the new fashion

As she grows, I grow oler
Less at ease, a little bolder
Age seems to surprise
When watching through a Ma’maws eyes

She’s beauty gracefully walking
She’s beauty when she’s talking
For never a harsh word expounding
But an angelic voice sings, resounding

She’s loved and loves with the truest heart
One gifting loyalty from the start
Befriending without reservation
Embracing all; their Gods creation

Her laughter liltting about a room
Reminds me, that all to soon
Youth slips into memory
Plays there, wild and free

She’s growing, as I grow too
These eyes see right through
The years of her Momma’s youth
As I bemoan youths truth:

Suddenly, it slips away.
