‘In His Face I’

Scaling your expression
Scrutinizing your eyes
Does your heart beat?

Your countenance, steady—unmoved
Destructive cogs twist unnoticed
Evidenced only in your wake.

Your lips, smirked—permanently
Looking on.
Do you like the pain?

One day,
I saw a tear
squeezed from your eye,
drop down your face.
Was that a mistake?

I miss you.
