Sleep eludes me
Staring into blackness
The darkness a cavern
Vast oppressive
Emptiness engulfing me
Battering my soul
At sea on a rudderless boat
Nothing in front
Nothing beside me
The silence deafening
Debates with the devil
Why am I here
Where should I go
What is my purpose now
Who would even care
Evening mantra
Pounding my brain
The body a mere cicada shell
Hollow untouched unwanted
The heart beating a dull ember
Drafts of despair sweep
A weathered stone
All alone
Tick tock went the clock
