Du bist wie eine Blume I sang
to the woman at the hardware store
watching her plump face turn red as a tulip
held to ones breast to which she responded

So hold und schön und rein whereupon
I picked up my six long bolts and shiny nuts
paid a cashier and left everyone wondering
what it was that had just happened
in the old Ace Hardware store

“Such an old song, such old words

As they drift across the creek” ~ Charles Wright

  1. nice Peter! Blushing flower, so sweet and innocent and young… over nuts and bolts… excellent!
