Roots, Deep

I have roots, deep
Do I need permission
To hold this soil, my mother
Who is mine

I have roots, deep
Do I need fear
Stones and earthworms
Upon my way

I have roots, deep
Do I need choose
The direction to take
When I hold my love, strong

I have roots, deep
Do I need taste
My fruits of color
When I stand, for my purpose

I have roots, deep
Do I need reserve
A branch for the sparrow
One for the crow
When the fruit is same

So spake this tree
Of life
