~ I Sing a Song of Years…

by A. L. O'Prunty

I sing a song of years…

And meadows full of flowers
Flowers drawing the butterfly

The finch, the lark, an open sky

And a little girl who dared to fly
Flying away through the years

Hopes and dreams void of fears

Oh the laughter! Oh the tears!
Bittersweet some memories

Love and loss simultaneously

Chapters continuously revealed to me
Overwhelming that first cry

Singing their first lullaby

So hopelessly in love was I
My little meadow of flowers grown

Parts of me within them shown

Daring to spread their wings, now flown
I sing a song of years…

And meadows full of flowers

Now, Watching my grand children bloom.
