A Heaven, Yes

by Venkat

young-plant_large

from a seed we come
to a seed we so go
planted on this heaven
we burn ourselves to find

a heaven yes, of waters
we are to find, on our own
a heaven yes, of sun
we are to turn to, by our own

as plants, we move not
meant to yet spread our roots
as leaves, we stay not
higher each day, to view below

the same story, over again
on the desert, ice, cave and ocean
haters of heat, love ice
haters of water, crave for land

haters we make in us
severing our own roots
to die in seeking portions
of our own warmth, away from home

need we count our days
need we measure our soil
need we question our existence
when we move constantly, seed to seed

from a seed we come
to a seed we so go
planted on this heaven
we burn ourselves to find
