Swirls of grey
Rise from the scorched earth
Wrapping themselves
Around me
In their ruthless
Embrace
Tighter
They get
Tighter
And
Tighter
Still
Plunging down
My sweat-filled brow
Invading
My cavernous mouth
AS
I
Gasp
For
Breath
Bringing me to my
Knees
A forced apology
For a world gone mad
And what is left?
Smoke and ashes
