The devil on my right

by Karen

You’re sitting there

staring at me

the last thing

I want to see

With your devil eyes

and your devil smile

I turn away from you

and stare out the window

Still, I can feel you there

with that devil’s stare

I get up

and wonder away

but I can’t get rid of you

In my mind you’ll stay

with your devil thoughts

I ask you to stop

I beg you to go

I’ll never leave, you say

The devil’s words

to lead me astray
