Ode to Freezer Drawers

by Michelle Sherlock

mouse

When I think of times past

Where larders held our next repast

Where mice crept in and rats could play

Leaving droppings on their way

In food we saved for another day

I can only sing for joy

And all my gratitude employ

As I my freezer drawers  deploy

For frozen food sealed in plastic wraps

With no need for vermin traps
