No snow

by Jem Croucher

11 March 2013

It rarely snows in Sussex
Down here by the sea
And although it tried this morning
It petered out quickly

We rarely get a whiteout
Or snow beneath our feet
And it doesn’t often settle
As it turns to rain or sleet

Today was no exception
There were some flakes at first
Delaying all the trains of course
As they had feared the worst

If you’d blinked you might have missed it
For it really was that brief
Not good for young and young at heart
But for travellers, just relief

  1. lovely photo, like a Xmas card!

  2. Thanks Elizabeth – that was taken about three years ago – the last time we had any serious snow!
