Northern bound

by Jem Croucher

Left Shoreham on a crystal day
Northern bound am I
Heading up to Newcastle
Where snows awaiting lie

Hard to fathom that right now
As it’s bright and sunny here
But the weather looks to worsen
as I head north, I fear

The best part of five hundred miles
I’ll travel on this day
The length and breadth of England
I will see upon the way

But my i-pod’s charged and ready
And I have a window seat
Time to settle back, relax, enjoy
This day of travel as a treat
