~ A Christmas Lullaby ~

by A. L. O'Prunty

She sang a Christmas lullaby;
Angelic was her voice
And all who passed by
Felt her need to rejoice

Within her arms lay
Her nursing infant boy
The reason for her season
The reason for her joy

Doctors had given up
A mother she wasn’t to be
But her prayers kept ascending
Her faith grew abundantly

Nine months she sang praises
Nine months the infant heard
A tiny heart was beating
To the rhythm of each word:

“Little child, God has blessed me
He has answered my prayer
In this womb you are growing
For God is good and so fair,
Little child, God has blessed me
He has answered my prayer
In this womb you are growing
For God is good and so fair,
He has heard a woman’s cry
Answered her plea
Little child, God has blessed
Both, you and me”

She sang a Christmas lullaby;
Angelic was her voice
And all you passed by her
Felt her need to rejoice

For the Mother who never gave up on the power of prayer 🙂
You know who you are.
