~ Coverlet Castles ~

by ladyliterati

The house was happy, it came alive
With a weekend visitor, of only five
Toys, trinkets scattered about
Laughter upon laughter, shout upon shout

Coverlet castles, firewood forts
Good guys, bad guys of all sorts
Dinosaurs, dragons, transformers too
Staged on the hearth; imagination flew

A tinky toy sword colorful, bright
Wielded with all a little boys might
Who thought all the dragons to slay
Declaring a knight had saved the day!

No technical gadgets to distract
Just imagination to reenact
The house was happy, it came alive
With a weekend visitor of only five:

So silent starts this winters day
But this house seems brighter
From a little boys stay.

  1. This poem reminded me of my boys, past, appreciation for transformers; what a lovely write. 🙂
