Like An Amish Hope Chest

by Ellespeth

I deep cleaned the study this afternoon.  This is not the chest that inspired me, but we have one like this from David’s family.Like An Amish Hope Chest
She’s old and worn
chipped but smoothed
rounded edges
faded but red
orange
like a setting sun’s ruby
set in a violet sky
painting a life
with delicate brushings
of usefulness.

  1. A lovely poem Ellespeth, I love ‘delicate brushings of usefulness’. I’ve never heard of a Hope Chest, but I love the idea. Hugs, H xxx
