A Quiet Note

by Venkat

a flight from red fires to white ice
touches the story of two silences
one, pulverized in a volcanic storm
other, reclining on a pond of calm

one silence in awe, in dread
choked in fear, in fantasy
limbs stirred so by voices
outside one’s head

another silence, in peace, in love
happy in a land, in one’s nest
none stepping on the other
chasing nothing but freedom
drawn by a lone voice within
