After the rain

by Jem Croucher

12 April

After the rain has gone
There’s a clarity in the air
Reflections in the puddles
Of the blue sky now up there

I can feel my spirits rising
Now as the autumn has begun
As the colours of the reds and gold
Are embellished by the sun

There’s a fragrance all around me
Which wasn’t there before
Born of rain on soil and loam
On leaf-clad forest floor

My senses now on overload
I pause to wonder for a while
A brief respite that nature
Gives quite freely with a smile

  1. Beautiful imagery and a wonderful and kind flow. Nice!

  2. We all need to do more of that “pause to wonder for a while A brief respite that nature gives quite freely with a smile”
