A Crow’s Song

as a crow I caw
looking for you
lost in the chorus
of our brethren

can you not hear
my caw sweeter
a wee bit softer
a shade of melody

can you not see
my wings wider
to hold you closer
my plumes of shine

am I just another
can you not see
my nest higher
bigger than the rest

alas, you do not

a crow I am
and will be
living in my yearn
by my fantasies

a caw no better
no worse either
I sing the same
as all my cousins

each locked in a dream
made of same feathers
