Didactic: Words of Advice

by Venkat

wake up! o young one, rise!
hear a few simple words, wise
on this early mellow morning
listen to bells of wisdom ring

fear not what others be
highest peaks have an irony
all virtues deal forces of pain
constantly cleansed to sustain

envy not what others possess
life is balanced by laws to assess
what one gives is what one gets
self-centred aims lead to debts

put not blind faith in right or wrong
no path remains same for far or long
move on with a spirit of gentle love
leave the judgment to Him above

  1. A nice little piece of moral instruction, Venkat! I’ll be sure to read it to my grandson . . .
