Brant Point Lighthouse

William Davis “Morning Row, Brant Point”

The slipper shells

Lie empty on the beach

The feet that once filled them

Long gone to the gulls or the tide

The feet that now crush them

Unconscious Irreverent

Of irrelevant time

The Candle`Light

Points out to the sea

To warn of shallow shoals

For keels deeper than we fathom

But who will light a candle

To warn shallow souls

Of irrepressible time
