when thoughts collide
in an attempt to choose
unable to take a side
indecisions do confuse

choices made hard, long
between a cake or cookie
unwritten right and wrong
or by feelings, trying to be

choices open from clarity
yet more from the unknown
between gentle love or duty
as from fruit or a seed sown

choices pulling us apart
making a world impatient
to the point of losing heart
moving our goals, distant

choices tether oneself, tight
held on by fangs of desire
dividing mind by short sight
splitting hairs, a result dire

yet choices make our day
by importance and value
knowing when to rest or play
discerning false from true

when choices do not matter
life and living become simple
a destiny our own to master
merging differences to humble
