Calm

by Michelle Sherlock

Photo of lighthouse on a cliff against blue sky and calm sea

Calm

As much an absence

Of noise, of pressure, of heat

As an actual presence

Calm so welcome

After endless storms

After being battered to and fro

Like driftwood on a stormy sea

Calm

A reality not just a dream

Perhaps there’s hope

For you and me

  1. It makes me feel calm. It’s beautiful.

  2. Nice. The image adds meaning to it indeed!

    • Thanks Venkat – I think images can really reinforce the words. When I write I usually start with a picture in my head and then write, sometimes I even have to find a real life image before the words flow
