Maya Angelou – already missed

by graypoet

maya

She knew how the caged bird sings
Giving of herself through her gift
All the Singin’ and Swingin’ aside
Her loss in times fabric is a rift.

She gave a sung flung up to heaven
And it preceded her to pave the way
God’s children need travelling shoes
After reading her, what can you say.

She gave us the heart of a woman
Pouring our her spirit to help all
She was such a cool drink of water
She finally answered a higher call.

Her words have been given to remember
A Pulitzer, Tony, Grammy’s and more
She’ll be missed, quoted and valued
Now a part of our heritage and lore.

Rest in peace, Maya Angelou.
