Odes to You

by Emily Page

An ache in my heart,
A spark in my head,
Fingers on the keyboard,
Until enough’s said

The feelings erupt,
The rhymes follow too.
Still don’t have the answers
When it comes back to you.

Creativity sparks,
Each ode plays its part,
Like a light in the dark
Banishing you from my heart.

Then I gather my skirts,
Carry on with my day.
Getting rid of the hurts
Lets me love him today.

But it’s only a temporary fix
This creative outpour of pain
My heart plays its tricks
Until I think of you again.
