You and We

by Easter Ellen

Poetry Challenge, Free Verse Poem

You and We

Cene

You whisper our name

You hold open your arms

Will we hear your heart’s longing?

In shadows we play

Where the sun will not shine

Will we see you, though you’re ever with us?

You reach through the mire

You take on our weight

Will we feel your hand carrying our load?

In vices we seek

Comfort from self-destruction

Will we ever know peace you offer?

The time is always

The time is now

He is just a heartbeat away
