Too Long

by sc0pic

It had been too long
Too long since I let it out, let it drain, let it move
Digitized, quantized, cold and calculating
Took up the charcoal
Brought it to page
It melted in my hands
I fell through the paper
Rolling down a hill on a cold night, the easel and I tumbling
Darkness, wet grass, leaves stuck to cloth
And I wake, everything square, squares and lines
And ancient symbols that turn to smoke
