We Are Trees

With due respect to Peter’s format. I love it

We are trees
Meant to be firm
Look high towards the sky
With roots strong
Deep within
We are trees
Meant to change
Transform as seasons are
By rhythms same
In a melody
We are trees
Meant to endure
Be it sun or thunderstorm
To remain calm
By strength
We are trees
Meant to bear fruit
Carry seed of knowledge
Spread as a scent
Leave trails
We are trees
Meant to protect
Giving oneself to others
Selfless in spirit
Wise by age
We are trees
Designed by God
To serve even after death
Be a guiding light
Immortal

  1. Reminds me of Psalm 1: “He is like a tree, planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither…” I like the repetition of the title in your poem.

  2. Very very nice, Venkat! And thanks for the ‘tip of the hat’!
