ABC Poem: Childhood Days

by Venkat

Poetry challenge: ABC Poem.

As a child in my memory
Brings back an emotion plenary
Carefree in thought
Doing mischief, but caught
Enjoying a prank
Fun in class, yet good in rank
Gorging on home-made lunch
Happy with mates by the bunch
I do miss those days
Jolly times of childhood ways
Kindness in heart, teachers cared

Love by parents, the time they spared
Memories green and strong
Not to forget school prayer song
Out of school with the ring of bell we yearned
Proud to come home, pampering we earned
Quietly sneak into the fridge to gulp
Relax with TV cartoons, eating a fruit pulp
See cozy dreams during day
Times in evening to play
Understanding mother by my side
Vocal in her words to encourage or chide
Wisdom in her deeds that would stun
X-mas or any holiday filled with fun
You could laugh with family to tears
Zeal of childhood days still ring in my ears
